Plus this rosted broccoli recipe is easy to make with 6 ingredients in 15 minutes! It’s a healthy side dish that pairs well with all your favorite dinner recipes (including this balsamic pot roast, homemade mac and cheese, and so much more)!
Roasted Broccoli Recipe: Ingredients
- Broccoli Florets. Trim fresh broccoli and use the tops (called florets) in this recipe. You can also use frozen broccoli florets with great results.
- Olive Oil.Avocado oil is a good substitute for olive oil.
- Garlic Powder.I suggest using powdered garlic because it coats the broccoli and gives it a crispy texture. Minced garlic can be used instead.
- Paprika. My favorite is smoked paprika, but any variety works well.
- Black pepper.Use freshly ground black pepper for the best flavor.
How to Roast Broccoli in the Oven
Let’s walk through how to make roasted broccoli step-by-step, and don’t forget to watch the video.
The first step in this baked broccoli recipe is to make the spice mixture. Combining the spices beforehand will make sure they are evenly distributed throughout the broccoli florets. Set it aside to use later.
To Use Frozen Broccoli
- Spread out the frozen broccoli in an even layer on the baking sheet, then put it in the preheated oven for 1-2 minutes until it’s warm but it isn’t roasting.
- Once it’s warm, remove the broccoli from the oven and drizzle it with olive oil and stir.
- Then add the spices and stir to coat.
- Return to the oven and roast according to the recipe instructions.
Next, combine the broccoli and olive oil. Be sure to stir so the olive oil is evenly distributed and all the broccoli pieces are evenly coated.
Once the broccoli is evenly coated with olive oil, sprinkle the spice mixture over the broccoli.
Stir until all the broccoli pieces are evenly coated.
Then, spread the broccoli pieces in an even layer on a large baking sheet.
Roast the broccoli at 450 degrees F for about 15 minutes, stirring once halfway through. Please be aware that all ovens bake differently, so make sure to check the broccoli at around 7 minutes!
Also, the size you cut the florets into will effect the baking time (smaller florets = shorter bake time, larger florets = longer bake time). So keep that in mind!
Towards the end of baking if the broccoli isn’t crisping up as you’d like it to, turn the oven to broil and bake for 1-2 minutes. I usually only need to do this occasionally when using frozen broccoli!
Serve
For best taste and texture serve this baked broccoli fresh from the oven with your favorite dinner recipes. I usually find myself sneaking bites of it as I serve it to my family, because it’s so delicious I just keep going back for more. Here are some suggestions:

Prep Time5 minutes minutes
Cook Time15 minutes minutes
Total Time20 minutes minutes
Ingredients
- 8 cups fresh broccoli florets (1.5 pounds (24 ounces broccoli) cut into bite-sized pieces)
- ¼ cup olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon fine sea salt
- ¼ teaspoon paprika
- ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Instructions
Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.
Grease a large baking sheet, set aside.
In a small bowl mix together garlic powder, sea salt, paprika and black pepper. Set aside.
Place broccoli pieces in a large bowl, drizzle with olive oil and stir until evenly coated.
Sprinkle half of the spice mixture over the broccoli, stir and repeat with the second half and stir until evenly distributed.
Spread seasoned broccoli evenly on the prepared baking sheet.
Roast at 450 degrees for 14- 15 minutes, or until the broccoli is nicely roasted, stirring once halfway through. (Note: the size you cut the florets into will effect the baking time (smaller florets need a shorter bake time, larger florets need a longer bake time).
If necessary, broil the broccoli for 1-2 minutes at the end of roasting time to crisp it up (I find this is only necessary if using frozen broccoli).
Remove from oven and serve immediately.
